The Macro Queen (as BBB has dubbed her), XMarieAngel, has proven herself to be using macros to aid her gameplay.
A macro in this sense is essentially binding multiple actions to one key press. For an example, to create an auto dropshot macro you could quite easily programme your shoot button to shoot as it is intended to do, but also to hit the prone key to make you drop. In most programmes that allow you to do this you can set a delay between each action also, and going even further in some programmes, you can make the delay time random (which would help against detection by game developers).
Not all macros would be considered outright cheating in the same respect as aimbot or wallhacks, as they may not help with the key mechanics of an FPS game and your effectiveness to gain a kill. However, any macro that combines multiple actions into one key press is giving the player an advantage over those who do not have a macro setup.
Talking about macros in Warzone can be quite confusing, as you could have any combination of actions setup as a macro on your mouse or keyboard, or even your controller, from auto drop shot, to auto slide cancel and recoil control to rapid fire. It could also be something as innocuous as auto strafing, but regardless of how minimal the macro is, it is still something that is making you quicker and more refined at completing certain actions than an opponent who is not able to set up macros or doesn’t in the interest of fair play.
With XMarieAngel openly setting up her macro on stream she has provoked a now normal split reaction. Some defend her and say the macro itself is nothing that could be considered cheating, while others point out that the advantage given by any macro gives an unfair advantage.
This whole incident seems to be yet further indication that the Warzone fanbase is okay with normalising performance enhancing software and hardware as long as they like the content creator who uses it.
At this rate it is only a matter of time until someone is outed for using Aimbot or Wallhacks and the comments section is filled with “It’s okay, it wasn’t in a tournament” or “IDC, he makes great content”
